Having What We Need...

Tattered slippers cover my tired feet. I notice their many imperfections, and wonder why I have kept them so long. Holes are beginning to show near the tender threads which have worn with age, but they continue to keep me warm.

I’d love to buy new slippers, but my drawer is already filled with footies which provide for my needs. They cover my feet and serve a purpose, even though they're no longer new.

We sometimes want bigger and better, and don‘t always realize we have what we need. Often we’re not content with what God has already provided. We want name brand items, top of the line vehicles, and houses which are bigger than we need.

At what point do we realize we have enough? Perhaps it is when we take time to understand God has already provided for our needs. He fills us with His grace, and longs for us to discover content in what He has chosen to provide. He teaches us to embrace a grateful heart of thanks, and lovingly shows us how it feels to be full.

Summer weather is here…I want a pool in my backyard for hot, humid days. But, I will settle for trips to the lake, and thank God for His many provisions to keep us cool.

God is near...He knows what you need. Put your trust in Him.

Nan

The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11 NIV
