The Door of Opportunity

opening-door Pictures, Images and Photos

In a few weeks, my young students will arrive for their first day of preschool. Some will burst through the door with excitement. Others will need time to acquaint themselves with their new surroundings before they feel confident enough to walk through the door.

Children will leave their comfort zones and find their way through the door of opportunity. They will discover many new things about themselves, as they find purpose in classroom routines, and learn to trust those who will teach them to become confident as they learn.

Young children are not the only ones who hesitate when life brings change. Sometimes, we’re not ready to walk through the door God opens in our lives. We try hard to pave the path which is most familiar, but often God has other plans. He knows where we should arrive, but we forget He prepares us to be led.

God lovingly nurtures our hearts. He moves us toward unfamiliar territory, but never allows us to walk alone. He guides us through and helps us understand where we are going. The Bible says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

When God leads, He helps us handle each new situation. He allows us to recognize the reward of our faithfulness, as we continue to trust in Him and patiently learn to be led.  When we faithfully surrender to God, He opens our hearts and shows us how to discover His great reward. Then, He walks us through the door of opportunity, and lovingly leads us to the special place where we belong.

God is near and He loves YOU
Nan

  1. Two quotes that came to my mind as I read your writing:
"God is always moving us ahead but never away."
"God is too good to be unkind, and too wise to make a mistake."
    Thank you.
