I will give thanks to you with all my heart, O Lord my God. I will honor you forever because your mercy toward me is great. Psalm 86: 12-13
Pilgrims shared a meal with Native Americans who taught them how to live in the new land. They had reasons to share with grateful hearts. Through hardship, loss of loved ones and little to sustain, they managed to thank God for their blessings. Courage allowed them to survive what they endured and STRENGTH grew from the heart of their faithfulness.
They thanked God, even though their lives were filled with struggles and despair. He helped them rely on His provisions. God provided for the Pilgrims. He heard their prayers, as they bravely persevered and took care of their needs. God provides for us as we journey with Jesus. He is honored when we give Him praise in all situations.
"Nothing turns us into bitter, selfish, dissatisfied people more quickly than an ungrateful heart. And nothing will do more to restore contentment and joy of our salvation than a true spirit of thankfulness."
As we face challenges, it’s good to be reminded God IS with us! Even though our lives will change, HE will not! His presence is constant. He opens hearts to discover mercy and the gift of amazing grace.
God will guide us as we learn to trust in Him and recognize our blessings. We must be willing to receive and welcome the fullness of His love. He will help us discover how it feels to embrace thankfulness and witness the joy of a grateful heart.
Dear God, thank you for the love of Your faithfulness. Thank you for this day to remember why we are blessed. Help us carry gratitude as we welcome the Christmas season and make room for Jesus to dwell in our hearts. Truly, we are grateful for His love. Thank you for what has already been done for each one of us. Thank you, Lord. Amen
