Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over. Matthew 26: 14-16
We read about Judas and cringe at the thought of His betrayal, but neglect to admit we too disobey and forget to trust the One who saves. We lose sight of why we need to be grounded in God’s Word and allow ourselves to walk in the wrong direction.
“Judas had flaws and we need to learn from them.” We mustn't turn our backs on Jesus or excuse what's leading us away from the Father. We must guard our souls, battle greed and remember we all fall short from the glory of God.
If we call on Jesus with humbled hearts, He will help us find hope in the Father. We will welcome strength and recognize the need for mercy and grace. He will help us examine our lives and remember we are valued, loved and worthy of forgiveness. God will renew us as we pray with good intentions.
He will help us overcome. But we must follow Christ, trust in His power to save and remain grounded in God’s Word. “Our souls are worth more than thirty pieces of whatever Satan is trying to sell us.”
Dear God, thank you for HOPE that's found in Jesus, precious Jesus! Help us not forget His loving sacrifice for EACH one of us. Before we point the finger at those who sin, help us examine our hearts and bravely let go of what needs to be forgiven. Thank you for mercy and grace. It covers us in amazing ways when we need to be restored. Thank you for strength and the power of Your greatness. We will remain faithful as we follow Jesus and choose to walk closer to You. Thank you, Lord! Thank you. Amen
