I have been watching a mother goose sit on her egg. There’s a nest on the ground under a window I pass each day. A patient mother waits for her gosling to arrive. It sits beneath the weight of her love and is safely stored on a bed of softness.
She often has a feather in her mouth and I’ve wondered why she holds
it. One day I had a chance to see inside her nest. It held many tiny
feathers. On a blustery day, I watched as they were carried and moved by
the wind. And as they drifted away she replaced each and every one with
feathers of her own.
Her eyes remain closed as I watch her each day. But as I quietly peek outside, she senses my presence. She opens her eyes widely and lets me know who is taking care of her egg. There is determination in the nurturing of her love and she knows how to care for what God has provided.
God created mothers with strength to endure. I watch how she responds on stormy days, when rain pours on her battered body. I’m grateful she stays grounded in the wind. I reflect how beautifully God prepares us to take care of those we love. And I’m humbled to remember LOVE bears all things.
God prepares us to love like Christ; to be patient in preparation of birth and faithful as we live on earth. He readies our hearts to remember we are here in the timing of His will. He provides moments to be held by His holiness, as we seek His strength and patiently wait to receive the power of His love.
God blesses those who use feathers of their own to care of His children. He sees how we love through each and every day of our lives. And even when they no longer seek the safety of our care, we pray our loved ones will be blessed by God as He guides them.
God is faithful to take care of those we love. May they always know the love of Jesus and be nurtured by the prayers of our never ending love.
Dear God, Thank you for treasured moments to be still and consider the depth of Your amazing love. You are mighty, holy and true. Thank you for those who raise their children to honor You. We will love You all the days of our lives and faithfully remember; You will always take care of each and every one of us. Thank you, Lord. Thank you! Amen
