Where Are You God?

In the past several months, I have had many friends and family members who have been struggling with illnesses and conflict. It’s difficult to understand why bad things happen to those we love.

During moments of despair many will ask “Where are you God?”,  as they try to deal with emotional burdens and make sense of circumstances which cause them to suffer.

In moments of despair, we often become disoriented. We assume God is unavailable to hear our cries, as we desperately try to find Him in the midst of our pain.

We forget God is here… He reaches out to touch our lives, and move us to the place He will choose for us to arrive. It takes time to be prepared and led by His presence. We need moments to be held in the arms of His strength, so He can help us understand He is in control of all things.

God can remind us He is not hidden. He waits in the very place He longs to be discovered… deep in our hearts, where we find peace in His care.

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” The scripture does not say, “Come, if you can find me.” It says, “Come to me.”

At one time or another we will suffer. God never promised we would be without pain. But, we can find comfort in knowing He has a plan for each one of us. God is a good, loving Father who wants us to trust in Him, instead of doubting His goodness and grace.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

God’s love reaches past the sores of our hearts. He reminds us He is the Healer of all wounds, and gently bandages our brokenness. We can find strength to receive His peace, and never again wonder... “Where are you God?”, if we will only put our trust in Him.

God loves YOU.
He is near,
Nan
