“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

The events of 9/11 continue to haunt us. We remember the horror of that day and consider the many who lost their lives from senseless acts of destruction. But as we reflect on one of saddest days in America, we mustn't forget God does NOT create evil.

“There is potential for evil to enter the world, but there is also potential for goodness and love. Suffering is NOT good, but God can use it to accomplish good.” He took the death of Jesus on the cross and turned it into something great. “He opened the heavens to all who follow Him.”

Jesus said there will be suffering in the world. The day will come when suffering stops and God will judge all evil. He will compensate us with eternal reward, as He has promised. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” 2 Corinthians 4: 7

We must TRUST God! He will give us PEACE and COURAGE to endure. He will provide STRENGTH and open our hearts to be humbled for Jesus. We can find comfort in the words of our Savior; “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16: 33

God will help us discover peace, as we draw nearer to Him. He will ready us to feel His presence and show how to welcome STRENGTH. He will work for the good in our lives as we faithfully remember to trust.

2 Chronicles 7: 14 reminds us what needs to be done. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

God is love and HE loves us! There will never be a day without the power of His greatness. We must pray for strength when our hearts are weakened by sadness and despair and remember who has power to save. God will help us remain strong when tragedy strikes. He will wipe away tears and bandage the wounds of our weakness. He will strengthen the heart of those who witness the power of His everlasting love.

May God bless the families who lost loved ones and those who continue to experience the effects of 9/11. We will never forget what happened on that day. And we will always remember; one nation under God is exactly what we need...

Dear God, our hearts are saddened to remember September 11, 2001. Please be with the families who lost loved ones on that day. Comfort those who continue to suffer. We will seek You with ALL of our hearts and pray for You to reveal what needs to be done to heal the hurt in America. Amen
