Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3: 15 NIV

Pilgrims shared a meal with Native Americans who taught them how to live in the new land. They had reason to share with one another and celebrate grateful hearts. Through hardships, loss of loved ones and little to sustain, they managed to thank God for their blessings. Strength, courage and faith allowed them to survive the hardships they endured.

We can all relate to hardships. They create circumstances which rob our joy. It’s hard to feel content when we need to be reminded to be grateful. But God knows our hearts. And when we trust in Him, He helps us remember we are blessed. He hears the love of our praise; even in the midst of broken hallelujahs. And He allows us to experience the power of His presence in our days.

Consider the first Thanksgiving; Pilgrims thanked God, even though their lives were filled with struggles and despair. Faith led them to the new land and allowed them to rely on God’s provisions. He provided for the Pilgrims. He heard their prayers for mercy as they bravely persevered. God provides for us as we faithfully move ahead in our lives. He opens our hearts to embrace the offering of praise.

As we face challenge, it's good to be reminded God IS with us. Even though our lives will change, He will not! His presence is constant. He will open our eyes to discover strength and amazing grace. He will guide us as we learn to trust and help us recognize the many blessings which have already been provided.

We must be ready to respond when God makes us aware of His greatness. And we mustn't forget why the prayers of our praise will “restore contentment and open our hearts to a true spirit of thankfulness. “

Dear God, Thank you for Your loving presence. Thank you for the power of mercy and grace in our lives. Forgive us when we need to be reminded we are held by Your holiness. We will open our hearts and receive what You provide. And we will welcome the love of a grateful heart. Your faithfulness will lead us to a place of thanksgiving as we TRUST in You. Thank you, Lord! We will honor You with our praise in ALL circumstances and never forget why You will ALWAYS know what's best for our lives. Amen
