Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NIV

As we honor our veterans, we should humbly REMEMBER them with gratitude and love. They are deserving of the time it takes to consider how they served our country for the freedom we have today.

Many decorate with flags and enjoy time with family and friends on Memorial Day Weekend. We enjoy good food and the many ways we celebrate the beginning of summer. But often we forget the "Red, White and Blue" should have significant meaning to us.

The American Flag should stir our souls as it waves with a longing to be noticed. It’s so much more than a prop used for special celebrations. It should humble our hearts with gratitude as we reflect on the veterans who fought bravely for our country. They deserve our respect and appreciation.

Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15: 3 NIV Christ set the ultimate example by giving His life for each one of us. On Memorial Day, we should honor those who deserve to be rewarded by the time it takes to thank God for their lives. We must never forget what's already been done for each one of us. “The best way to pay an unpayable debt is to show with our lives that we didn’t forget.”

Have a happy Memorial Day, family and friends. God bless our veterans and the healing of America as we pray for Him to restore our land and remind us how to love one another.

Dear God, thank you for moments to reflect with gratitude. Thank you for the brave men and women who have served our country and for those who continue to deserve appreciation. We will never be able to repay the sacrifices made, but we WILL take time to REMEMEBER them as we pray for our nation. Thank you, Lord. Thank you for this special weekend to share with family and friends. Thank you for all that we notice when we take time to look for the good. Amen
